This year-long course teaches students to write academic research papers, especially for but not limited to those who expect to enter graduate program or go abroad for further study. The second semester focuses on practicing the steps of writing a research paper from scratch, that is, from deciding on a research topic, writing proposals and outlines, gathering and evaluating sources, formatting bibliography, to writing drafts and revision. Students will write a 12-page paper (ca. 3000 words) citing at least 8 references. For the purpose of effective training, students are strongly advised to work on literature-related topics.
